Recruitment of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory Dr. W.S. Sho Goh Research Group
Introduction to Shenzhen Bay Laboratory:
Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (Guangdong Laboratory for Life Information and Biomedicine) is jointly organized by Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Committee and Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, and is co-constructed with units with research foundation and application advantages in related fields in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area , The goal is to cultivate the establishment of a national laboratory and build a national laboratory "reserve team".
Introduction of the research group:
Dr. W.S. Sho Goh graduated from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory with a Ph.D. in Biological Science. He has more than 10 years of experience in RNA biology and his recent focus centers on developing high-resolution epitranscriptomic sequencing technologies and investigating novel epitranscriptomic mechanisms. In 2018, he established his own independent laboratory at the Singapore Genome Research Institute, where he has won multiple research grants, published in prestigious journals (including Nature Communications, Nucleic Acids Research Genes & Development, PLoS Computational Biology, Cell etc) and filed patents for his developed technologies.
The laboratory aims to: (1) Develop technologies to sequence notable epitranscriptomes at high resolution; (2) Identify novel epitranscriptomic factors and characterize mechanistically how they regulate gene expression, cellular processes and human disorders.
Laboratory management (1 person)
1. Job responsibilities:
(1) Assist the research team leader to complete various daily tasks, including but not limited to personal affairs in China, handling letters and telephone calls, recruitment of research team personnel, financial work, etc.;
(2) Assist the research team leader to manage the daily administrative affairs of the laboratory, schedule arrangement, travel reimbursement, basic data collection, etc.;
(3) Assist in the planning and execution of personnel receptions, important meetings and activities;
(4) Daily management and maintenance of the laboratory, including but not limited to: the purchase of laboratory reagents and consumables, the maintenance of laboratory cleanliness, the maintenance and overhaul of laboratory instruments, etc;
(5) Complete other tasks assigned by the research team leader.
2. Application conditions:
(1) Biological related background, bachelor degree or above is preferred;
(2) Those who have work experience, have good English proficiency and must adapt to a full-English working environment, overseas study experience is preferred;
(3) Strong communication skills, independent thinking and problem solving skills, and good team spirit and collaboration skills;
(4) Experience with managing science-based social media is preferred but not required.

Post- doctorate (2-5 people)
1. Job responsibilities:
(1) Complete the scientific research tasks assigned by the co-instructors, and publish high-level journal papers and apply for patents;
(2) Independently or assist in applying for scientific research grants at home and abroad;
(3) Develop novel technologies for sequencing various RNA modifications of interest at high resolution transcriptome-wide;
(4) Screen for novel epitranscriptomic factors (Writers, Erasers and Readers of RNA modifications) and investigate their mechanistic functions;
(5) Generate disease-specific epitranscriptomes to facilitate the study of how epitranscriptomic defects contribute to human disorders.
2. Application conditions:
(1) Have a doctorate degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Virology, etc. (in principle, the doctorate degree should not be more than 3 years, and the age should not be more than 35 years old). Experience with Bioinformatics is preferred but not required.
(2) Have published SCI papers in this professional field, and have the ability to independently carry out scientific research.
(3) Have a strong sense of responsibility, professionalism, innovation ability, organization and coordination ability and teamwork spirit. Have a strong interest in scientific research, have good scientific research capabilities and innovative thinking.
(4) Strong English writing and communication skills.
(5) Experience with managing science-based social media is preferred but not required.
3. Benefits:
(1) The terms and conditions of the employment period shall be implemented in accordance with the relevant regulations of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory, including relevant benefits, five social insurances and one housing fund, etc. stipulated by the state.
(2) Provide sufficient research funds, equip with necessary experimental equipment, and provide a good working environment and office equipment.
(3) Post-doctorate's annual salary is 300,000 yuan (including 180,000 subsidies per year in Shenzhen)
(4) Overseas PhD/postdoctoral candidates who stay for further work can apply for Peacock Program subsidies
(5) After leaving the station, post-doctoral fellows can be employed as assistants/associate researchers of the research group or help contact foreign high-level laboratories to continue their studies according to their work ability and personal wishes; those who stay for further work can get 300,000 yuan as research fund from the Shenzhen government according to regulations. Those who have been engaged in scientific research for 3 years can be identified as reserve-level talents in Shenzhen and will have the opportunity to receive 1.6 million yuan housing subsidies in Shenzhen.
(6) The research team gives a high degree of freedom in the direction of scientific research, and fully supports post-doctoral fellows as the person in charge to apply for post-doctoral science fund, national natural science fund and provincial and municipal projects.
Research Assistant (1-2 persons)
1. Job responsibilities:
(1) Assist the person in charge of the laboratory to conscientiously complete the experimental work arranged by the laboratory and meet the laboratory's work standard requirements, be responsible for collecting and sorting out the original experimental records and data, and reporting them regularly.
(2) Daily management and maintenance of the laboratory, including but not limited to: the purchase of laboratory reagents and consumables, the maintenance of laboratory cleanliness, the maintenance of tissue culture cell lines and the maintenance and overhaul of laboratory instruments.
(3) Assist in the establishment of transgenic cell lines.
2. Application conditions:
(1) Biological related background, bachelor degree or above.
(2) With work experience, good English is required.
(3) Experience in Bioinformatics is preferred but not required.
(4) Strong experimental operation ability, independent thinking and problem-solving ability, and good team spirit and communication skills.
(3) Benefits:
Annual salary from 80,000 to 150,000 yuan depending on the candidate’s research background and work abilities[1] .
