Postdoctoral Researchers

2–4 postdoctoral positions (in collaboration with Prof. Zhen Zhou) are available for 4 projects in Human Breathomics Laboratory of Dr. Xue Li. The laboratory belongs to the Institute of Mass Spectrometer and Atmospheric Environment, Jinan University, Guangzhou, China.

The postdoctoral positions will be fully funded by JNU Postdoctoral Program.

Project 1: Identification of biomarkers for respiratory diseases by mass spectrometry-based breathomics (Dr. Xue Li)

In this project, we are seeking candidates who are experienced in mass spectrometry, metabolomics and bioinformatics.

The instruments in the lab include: a Q Exactive Hybrid Quadrupole-Orbitrap Mass Spectrometer (Thermo Scientific); a standard ESI source, a Nano-ESI commercial source and and a homemade secondary nano-ESI ionization source; UHPLC; GC-MS; ReCIVA breath sampler.

For this project, we are collaborating with State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Disease (Guangzhou, China), Oncology department of the affiliated hospital of JNU and Warwick Medical School, University of Warwick.

Project 2: A novel MS-based method for real-time detection of organic composition of sub-micrometer particles (Dr. Xue Li)

We are seeking post-doctoral fellows to continue development of a MS-based method for real-time detection of organic chemical compounds in sub-micrometer particles in atmospheric aerosols and human exhaled breath. Candidates with experience in mass spectrometry or aerosol analysis are encouraged to apply. In addition to the mass spectrometer mentioned above, the following instruments are available for the project: single particle aerosol mass spectrometer, scanning mobility particle spectrometer and aerosol generator. This project is in collaboration with colleagues from UC Davis, City University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and University of Macau.

Project 3: Novel metal-organic frameworks for VOCs sensing application (Dr. Zhijuang Zhang)

In this project, we are seeking candidates who will work on design and synthesis of metal-organic frameworks or VOCs sensing applications.

Collaborators on this project are from Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Rutgers University-The State University of New Jersey.

Project 4: Anthropogenic VOCs emission characteristics and its potential health risk assessment (Dr. Zhijuan Zhang)

In this project, we are seeking candidates who will work on VOCs monitoring and analysis or health risk assessment model.

Collaborators on this project are from Australia-China Centre for Air Quality Science and Management, Queensland University of Technology, Australia.

For both positions, the JNU Postdoctoral Program will provide attractive financial surpport to the post-doctoral researchers.

For Project 1 and 2, please do not hesitate to send your CV to tamylee@jnu.edu.cn;

For project 3 and 4, please do not hesitate to send your CV to zhangyan0204@126.com.
