岗位职责
Responsibilities
- Provide Counseling Services: Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address the social-emotional needs of secondary grade students, fostering their emotional well-being, resilience, and healthy relationships.
- Assess Student Needs: Assess students' social-emotional development and identify potential concerns or challenges through observations, interviews, and assessments.
- Collaborate with Teachers: Collaborate with teachers to support the development and implementation of strategies to address students' social-emotional needs in the classroom environment.
- Implement Social-Emotional Programs: Develop and deliver social-emotional programs, workshops and lessons to enhance students' self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
- Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support and crisis intervention services to students during challenging situations or emergencies, ensuring their safety and emotional well-being.
- Parental Collaboration: Collaborate with parents, guardians, and families to support the social-emotional growth of students, providing guidance, resources, and workshops as needed.
- Consultation and Referrals: Consult with teachers, administrators, and other relevant stakeholders regarding students' social-emotional needs, and make appropriate referrals to external professionals or agencies, if necessary.
- Maintain Records: Document counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions accurately and maintain confidential student records in accordance with school policies and regulations.
- Professional Development: Stay updated on the latest research, best practices, and developments in the field of social-emotional counseling, attending workshops and conferences, and participating in professional development opportunities.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other school counselors, administrators, and support staff to create a supportive and inclusive school environment that fosters students' social-emotional well-being.
任职要求
Qualifications:
- Education and Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Certification in school counseling or a counseling-related discipline is preferred.
- Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a counselor, preferably in an educational setting. Experience working with primary grade students is highly desirable.
- Knowledge and Skills:
• Sound knowledge of child development, social-emotional learning theories, and evidence-based counseling techniques.
• Familiarity with different counseling approaches and strategies suitable for primary grade students.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
• Ability to establish rapport with students, parents, and staff and maintain a supportive and confidential counseling environment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively.
• Cultural Competence: Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural environments, to effectively support students from diverse backgrounds; experience with Chinese-culture students, preferred.
- Fluency:
Proficiency in English is required, and fluency in Mandarin Chinese is highly desirable.
