Community Development (20%) · Create opportunities for students to live, learn, and lead. · Build an environment embracing our values: mutual respect, individual and social responsibility, interdependence, understanding, wellness, and resilience. · Coordinate programming that challenges, supports, and inspires students to develop their potential. · Oversee a community of around 150-400 residents. · Adjudication of low-level cases referred to the student conduct process. · Student of concern care & referral. Supervision of Resident Assistant team (4-12) (40%) · Coordinate and participate in the RA recruitment, interview, and offer processes. · Coordinate semesterly trainings, weekly team meetings, and regular 1:1 meetings. · Provide regular constructive criticism and reinforcement and conduct semesterly formal evaluations. Residence Hall Administration (15%) · Collaborate with the Housing department to ensure facilities are safe, cleaned, and maintained. · Directly manage a residence hall budget. · Residence hall semesterly openings and closing. · Maintain office hours & offer high accessibility for students. Departmental & Office Responsibilities (15%) · Lead an assigned departmental initiative (e.g., Res Life email account, student worker recruitment processes, room assignments processes, leadership programs, etc.). · Assist in departmental assessment initiatives. · Assist in fall and spring New Student Orientation. · Serve in an after-hours duty rotation & respond to crises and emergencies as needed. Other duties as assigned (10%) · University employees' job responsibilities will continue to expand in scope and depth as the University grows in size and complexity in its programs.

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field in education, student personnel, and related programs required. Master's degree in a relevant field in education, student personnel, and related programs preferred. Residence Life work experience required. Prefer 1 to 3 years of live-in experience in university student accommodations. Superb interpersonal skills, with a desire to work hard in a team-oriented, dynamic, fast-paced, environment Intercultural competency achieved and demonstrated by having lived, worked, or studied in an international, cross-cultural setting Strong organizational, planning, and English communication (verbal and written) skills Prefer understanding of advising and counseling techniques as well as university student development theory Prefer effective Chinese communication (verbal and written) skills Prefer knowledge of the differences between Chinese and western higher education systems
